USAV Nationals

Q. Are all teams required to go to Nationals?

  • It is the intent of the club that all Elite teams participate in Nationals. Typically, teams must qualify to participate in USAV Nationals; however, there is one division known as Patriot for teams who were not able to qualify otherwise.  Our goal is to enter as many teams that are allowed into the Patriot Division and attend at least two qualifiers; MEQ (Mid-East Qualifier) and Windy City Qualifier (Chicago) to try to bid up into higher divisions for potentially higher levels of competition.  For teams that do not qualify, if Ignite Elite was unable to register them into the Patriot Division, they will finish their year at the Asics Junior Nationals held at Navy Pier in Mid- June.

Q. Is Nationals included in membership fee?

  • No. Nationals is an added expense that is usually communicated in the beginning of the season. It is too difficult to build cost into the membership fees, as the cost fluctuates from year to year and we want to be sure any price reduction is passed to our members.

Q. When/Where is Nationals?

  • Nationals is held in June or July every year at different locations, which will be communicated in the beginning of the season.

Tournament Schedules

Q. Where can I find the Master Tournament Schedule?

  • The master schedule, when available, can be found on the Schedule page of the website.

Q. Will the Master Schedule change?

  • It’s possible. Sometimes we are notified that a tournament is being canceled or is too full, if that happens, we will modify the schedule by adding another tournament for the one that has been canceled. Always check the schedule online as it will be most current.

Practices
Q. Will practice schedules change?

  • It’s possible. As much as we try to keep the schedule the same, conflicts occur. If a coach needs to switch practices with another coach/team, that communication will typically come from the coaches. If this happens, the coaches should contact me so I can make the necessary corrections to the schedules for that week.

Q. Does Ignite ever cancel practices due to weather?

  • Not typically, however, if we need to cancel a practice due to weather, that decision will be made and communicated by 3:00 PM on that day. If we have not canceled, of course please use your best judgement and make a decision based on your family’s safety both on the way to practice and getting back home.

Q. What are closed practices and does Ignite Elite ever do this?

  • A closed practice is one that is not open to anyone other than the players, coaches and trainers.  We have not conducted closed practices in the past, however if the coaching staff feels as though there are too many distractions, we may do so. If it is determined that practices will be closed, information will be communicated to all parents.

Q. Can parents help with practices?

  • No. USAV has very strict guidelines regarding who is allowed to be on the court and interacting with players during practices and tournaments. We ask that parents and spectators are seated in the area behind the courts during practices. If this is not occurring, we will most likely have closed practices.
